Scroll bar woes

Does anyone know how to adjust scrolling "resolution" in
Excel? I work with lots of different sheets, and have
some that are only a few columns wide. Others are using
many many columns. Typically, a scroll bar moved to the
far end will take you to the last populated column.
However, on some sheets scrolling to the end with the
scroll bar will have you go to the 256 column. I'd love
to reset whatever setting it takes to keep the scrolling
confined to the populated columns. Is there a trick
someone has discovered? Thanks, Randy

Hi Randy,

Once a value has been entered in a cell and then cleared, Excel still considers the cell as used.

To fix it
- do Edit>Goto>Special>Last cell. This will select the last bottom/right cell that Excel thinks is in use
- select the columns that are not actually used and press Delete. Do the same with unused rows.
- save the file
- (in some Excel versions, close the file and reopen it)
