Scroll bars

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

After happily using Word for Mac 2004, installed as a new product on my then new Mac, for a couple of years the vertical scroll bar has decided to switch itself off. I have repeatedly done preferences - view and ticked the relevant box followed by OK. The bar reappears on that document but as soon as I open a new document or close then reopen the original document it has gone again. Help, irritating to say the least!

There could be several causes:

1- Have you recently run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions? If not, do
that first & see if it remedies the issue.

2- Have you installed any 3rd party add-ins, utilities or virus software?
They sometimes interfere with an app's ability to modify its own preference
files - although it appears to accept the change the change is ignored.

3- You may have a corrupt Preferences file. If he first 2 don't correct

4- If all else fails your Normal template may be faulty. Testing it & having
it replaced if necessary is described here:
