Scroll problem with Office 2007 SP2 and Vista x64

Burnsie

I just installed Office 2007 SP2 and I am having problems when scrolling
through the objects (tables, queries, forms, etc.). If I scroll down via the
scroll bar or button, Access continues to scroll for a little bit even after
releasing the scroll bar or no longer clicking the button. It doesn't happen
when I scroll up.

I am running Vista x64 Home Premium. I also have tested this with XP.
Scrolling works fine with XP.

Any one seen this problem? I did notice that there was a recent update for
Vista x64.

Thanks,

Burnsie

Hi Burnsie,

You are not alone on this one. I run win vista x86 and have the same problem
(well problem, it's annoying but everything works as expected). I have the
issue when using the scrollwheel on my mouse. First I thought that it had
something to do with the videocard but i think it must be a vista issue.
Anyway by telling about it here we can at least make it heard. I don't think
there will be a quick fix for it though.

I'm not seeing anything unusual with scrolling Access objects using Vista
x64 Enterprise SP1and Office 2007 Pro Plus SP2. Vista is updated with all
WSUS-released updates, but not Vista SP2 yet.

Maurice,

So, when you say, it is a vista issue, I am assuming you mean this has only
been a problem with SP2 as I haven't noticed the behavior prior to SP2.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Burnsie,

You know now that you mentioned it, it did appear after i installed SP2.
When I tested the beta bits for SP2 this wasn't an issue so it has to be
something in the final release of SP2. I must say that I had a lot of issues
regarding rereshing and repainting office objects. It's very hard to repro
the most things so that makes it hard to find a fix for it. But let's see if
someone else has this issue and we can find a way to report this issue
somehow.

Reported to Microsoft. Thanks for posting.

Note that if they can repro this it's been my experience that it will
take at least a month and possibly two before they came out with a
hotfix.

One suggestion from a fellow MVP.

Could it be a mouse click setting? I click it and
it scrolls and I release it and it stops. Make sure ClickLock is not
set on in your Mouse properties (it does do it when that is set).

Tony,

Nope, no ClickLock set. Double-checked a few things and found out this
behavior will occur using the mouse wheel, scroll portion of touch pad, and
when using either the mouse or touch pad to scroll via the bar or button.
Also note, this only happens when scrolling down. I didn't notice this
behavior when scrolling up.

Looks like some kind of bug got introduced with SP2.

Thanks for the reply.

This is not just a Vista problem. I am experiencing this problem when using
the mouse wheel to scroll thru Access objects on WinXP Pro, SP3. I have
Office 2007 Pro Plus SP2 . My mouse is a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000.
I'd be interested to hear of a fix for this if there's one out yet. Thanks.

MS are aware of this problem.

I noticed today that if you change the "View By" to List it doesn't jump
around. I hate the jumping so much that I'd rather live without the detail!
