Scroll Speed

I use Project 2003. When creating dependencies it is possible (and easiest)
to drag and drop from one task to the dependent task - so far, so good.
However, when I try to drag a task dependency down to a task that is out of
screen view the screen scrolls at such a ridiculous speed that I find myself
500-600 rows down! When I then try to scroll back up I find myself back at
the very top of the programme. It's almost impossible to scroll down half a
dozen or so lines out of screen view.
Is there a way to prevent the screen from scrolling so quickly or do I have
to go into task information and create predecessors for each task (which is
rather time consuming and laborious)?
Thanks
Peter

Hello Peter,

Sorry, the scrolling rate is not controllable as far as I know. For
a couple of suggestions that you may find easier than the Task
Information dialog:
Select the predecessor task, scroll (using scroll bar) to find the
successor task, CTRL + click on the successor and use the Link task
button on the standard toolbar.

Type the predecessor task ID in the predecessor field of the
successor task or add the successor field to the table and type the
successor ID.

You may also find collapsing parts of the outline makes it easier to
skip over tasks you are not in need of.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Tried both of those and they work a treat - thanks!

It is more than a tad annoying that there's no way to control the scroll
speed though.

Kind regards

I'm glad you found the suggestions useful. The scrolling issues
have plagued me both in Project as well as Excel and Word so I
empathize. Thanks for the feedback.

OK here is an old MS trick. DOn't use the mouse to scroll, instesd use the
shift key and the arrow key at the same time. This will let you select as
many laine as you need with out going ballastic. It also works in Excel.
