Scrolling causes inserted .gif's to load very slowly

Evie

I have an 80 page Word 2000 doc that has around 40 .gif images that I had
previously saved to my hard drive. These images were put in the document
using Insert/Picture from File. I have no problems viewing the document.
However, when I zip the file and email to other users, the images load very
slowly after scrolling through the document.

This document is to be sent out to multiple customers of ours, and I can't
tell each customer to turn down their hardward acceleration to avoid this
problem. Is there any other solution for these images?

Thanks ahead of time,
Lyne
