Scrolling in a WORD document

Normally when clicking in an app's scroll bar "space", not on the scroll button itself, the scroll bar jumps to that position and the document jumps to the corresponding page. In Word 08 this is not happening. The scroll button jumps but the document remains in the same position until you slightly move the scroll button itself. Can't find a Preference to deal with this. Is this a bug, intended, am I missing something?
(I am repeating this question after updating to 12.1.1. and nothing has changed)

Really? Because clicking in the scroll bar just acts as a Page Down
command for me (OS 10.4.11/Tiger), taking me to the next screen. If I
drag the scroll bubble, then I land on the corresponding page. Could you
be misinterpreting that as the behavior your describe?

Dalya,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I am correct in describing the problem. Well, perhaps it's the Leopard vs. Word 08 then ?
