scrolling problems

The scroll function in Word has become very erratic, flipping pages
forward and back. The scroll bar is pretty much unresponsive and/or
unpredictible as are the up and down arrows. The macbook feature where
you can scroll by running two fingers across the mouse pad is also not
functioning properly. These problems do not occur in the other
programs I have tried. I am using Office X for mac on a macbook. I
urgently need a solution as I am the midst of a big project and have
deadlines. Would appreciate any help!
Thanks, Bigtree

Hi Bigtree -

I'm afraid "Office X" on a "macbook" tells us next to nothing, but you may
want to try the general troubleshooting procedures listed here:

Make sure your version of Mac OS is fully updated using the COMBO updater
from Apple's web site. Also, do you by any chance leave Word running
"constantly"? What happens if you Quit Word & launch it again?

If you need further assistance make sure to include the following when you
post back:

What specific version of OS X - 10.3.?, 10,4.?
What specific build of Office X - 10.2.?, 10.3.?
Is this happening in one specific doc or all docs?
Specifics about the file: How big? Graphics? Tables? Links? Fields?
What type of "macbook"/processor - PPC or Intel? How much RAM?
What specific actions have you taken to correct the problem & what were the
results?

Responses will be much more timely & accurate based on detailed information.
Otherwise it just becomes a guessing game based on assumptions & involving a
slew of "try this" options... many of which may be a totally innapropriate
waste of time.
