scrolling through movies in powerpoint 2003

in my old version of power point I was able to embed .avi files in a
presentation and actually scroll through the images in real time. This was
done under insert/object/video clip then right clicking on the movie,
selecting edit, going under the options menu and electing to display the
movie slider while the movie was playing. this was a VERY useful feature.

My office upgraded and now I have PowerPoint 2003 which does not allow this
functionality. Is there a way to display the slider while the movie is
playing so I can pause the movie and scroll through the images myself?

Try this.....

start (windows xp button), run, type in

MPLAY32 and press Enter

this opens the old windows media player

open your video clip

edit menu (of the media player) make sure "control bar on playback" it
ticked >ok

edit menu > copy

start powerpoint

find your slide that you want the video / movie clip on

edit > paste

all done!
