Scrolls too fast while selecting

When I try to select text by dragging my cursor over it, if
I need to scroll above or below the currently displayed
window it bursts into an extremely fast scroll, causing me
to overshoot by many pages. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Another solution is to use Word's ParaDownExtend command
(Ctrl+Shift+Down arrow), which selects the text, paragraph by paragraph.
