scrolls too fast

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel when editing in PPT, the scrollbar on the left jumps too far ahead. clicking once on the scrollbar it will advance 1-2 slides ahead. This is wrong. seemed to start when I updated 10.5.6/10.5.7.

any advice? this makes PPT almost unusable: I have to be able to advance slowly through a slide when I'm editing it.
