I have SBS2000 with Exchange 2000
Just turned on Full text indexing on server to speed up search of contact folder stored in PUBLIC folders on Exchange
According to Microsoft - search is now only done on 'words' and not character by character search - this is done for speed improvement
It does work at high speed BUT as the size of the data increases - search time increases greatly
YES - I know all the arguments as to why - BUT SOMETHING ISNT RIGHT HERE
Appart from the full text index seach - several other character by character searches are also taking place - against all Microsoft documentation statements !!
A search for a contact called 'Michaels' is found but a seach for 'chael' also finds the 'Michaels' contact !!!
This is NOT the way it should work and this is the reason for the seach slow down
The extra searches may be being impletmented by Outlook XP clients- but i just dont know - it would be wrong too
Anyone with any ideas ? Microsoft is there a fix ??
