Search box missing in Excel Help

How do I get a search box, table of contents, and index in the Excel Help facility?

The Help interface in 2008 doesn't operate the same as the one in 2004. The
Search Box is the white Spotlight oval at the right end of the Help window's
title bar. If it doesn't appear right off click the oblong tic-tac button
[right end of the title bar] to expand the title bar & display the tools.
The Topics button at the left end opens a flyout containing a categorical
list of Contents subjects, but there is no A-Z or Index listing.
