Hello all,
I 'm having troubles with trying to search for contacts by phone numbers. I
have tried instant search and advanced find and none of them work the way
I'd like to.
Let's use an example:
Let's say I receive a phone call and the phone number is displayed on my
phone,
then I'd like to search for this phone number in my outlook contacts , so
that Outlook would give me the matching contact.
Phone numbers are written in different ways in my contacts: some are written
like 0612345678, other are written like 06 12 34 56 78, others like
06.12.34.56.78. and others are in the international format, that would give
: +33612345678 or +33 6 12... etc.
So to be sure I'll find the contact, I want to enter only a pair of numbers
that are not at the begining of the phone number: 12.
I do not know if the phone number was a mobile or a home phone, so I would
like to search in ALL phone fileds.
My attempts:
- In "instant search" : typing "12" , without the comas, will return some,
but not all, contacts with "12" in one of the phone number field.
- In "instant search" : typing "12" , with the comas, will return even less
contacts with "12" in one of the phone number field.
- In "advanced find" > "advanced" tab : I can choose a field, like mobile
phone number field, condition: contains, value = "12". It returns all the
right contacts, but I have to try ALL phone fields to get the contact I
want. It is not handy and takes too much time.
- In "advanced find" > "advanced" tab : If you add multiple criteria, it
won't work, as you would ask a contact that has "12" in home phone field,
mobile phone filed, etc. Multiple criterias must all be fulfiled, the search
will not return any answer if ONE of the criteria is fulfiled.
As you can see, so far I didn't find any method for doing that, I'd
apreciate your help, thanks
