search does not return expected result

i have an email from shirley in the inbox and i used to be able to use the
search box to look it up.
but now, even if the email exists, i cant type any keyword that can bring up
this search result, and search indicates no results found!
i can't believe it! can someone explain why and how to fix this stupid
inaccurate search result?
