We are in the process of moving from 97 to Office XP but have struck what appears to be a severe problem. In 97 we use search in open dialogue screen to get all excel files for a given customer (by searching by text string within files). This works really well, results can be previewed, sorted, and all opened at once. In XP we first have to limit the search scope by going setting locations, then the results are returned in a random order that cannot be sorted, previewed, and will not allow multiple opens. Whats going on, am I going mad! We have also considered using journals within outlook before I found knowledge base article 298746 which says you cannot automatically have journal entries created for word or excel files. Can we happily run office 97 in windows XP instead, there must be a better answer surley.
