Search for colored text?

BIG HEADACHE!!!

I have a 100 page text in MS Word that contains various revisions (back,
red, blue, and green).

Black was the original text, while the other colors were revisions at
various stages.

The entire text looks checkered...

Does anybody know how to count the bytes all words of a particular color? My
client wants me to do exactly like that. I am no MS Word guru and don't know
how to gather all words of one color in one single file.
Even the so-called gurus couldn come up with anything close to satisfying...

Thanks,
Murgi

If you are using Word 2003, try selecting a line of a certain colour ... black, for example. Then right-click and choose 'Select Text with Similar Formatting'. All the words coloured black would be selected. Then you can copy them all and paste them to a new file. There, you can know the size of the text.

Hmmm... I have Word 2003 and just tried. It works with some colored text,
but only 50%...

What I did:
I created a short test file (50 lines) and colored 10 items in various lines
red and another 10 item blue. Then I highlighted the first red word and
selected 'Select Text with Similar Formatting'. 6 of the red expressions
were highlighted but not the rest.
Did I make a mistake?

Well ..., perhaps my previous way doesn't wrok for this situation ... but anyway, I have figured out another solution to might be helpful.

Press Ctrl + F1 to display the Task Pane then go to the Styles and Formatting Task Pane. You will see a list of formatting used in your document. When you move the mouse cursor over the items, an arrow will appear on the right of the item, which displays a menu when clicked. Let's say if you want to select all the red-coloured lines. Scroll down the list for red-coloured lines and when you have found one, hold down the Ctrl key and click the arrow then choose 'Select All # Instances' (where # represents the time of the occurance of the formatting). ** Remember to hold down the Ctrl key during the clicking process ** When you have finished, all the red-coloured lines will be selected.

Hi,
thanks for this suggestion. I tried it on a smaller file, and it seems to
work. It's not "ideal"... however, it's the best which one can expect.
I'll recommend my client that every translator should use a different font
(color in addition if they like) in the future.
It still takes some time to finish the job, but it's much more fun now than
before your suggestions...:)
