Search for numbers in numbered lists

I've got numbered lists and also a numbered References section for
works cited in a report. When I search for number e.g. 43, the search
doesn't find occurances that correspond to the numbers of the numbered
lists. I've goat search set to "Search: All" (but "Search: Down"
doesn't change anything). No wildcards or formatting. Is there a way
to search to also look at the numbers of a numbered list? I'm using
Word 2003 in Windows XP.

Are you referring to *autonumbered* paragraphs? If so, searching for a
particular paragraph number would require a macro. You may want to ask in a
programming newsgroup such as microsoft.public.word.vba.general.
