Search for underlined text

I'd like to search for underlined text and replace the
underlining with italics. How can I do this?

In Word 2002 on XP, in Edit|Find|Format|Font there's a
place to specify an underline style but I couldn't get
this to work.

Greg,

What isn't working. Are you getting underline replaced
with underlined italic? You also need to define no
underline in the replace with field

I was just trying to find underlined text first. I hadn't
set the font. It looks like you have to pick a font and a
style of underlining. It would be nice if Word could find
underlined text in any font and any kind of underlining.

I got it to find underlined text and the replace added
italics but didn't get rid of the underlining, so I went
back and did that by hand. That was clumsy but it worked.

No, not true. Here's how to find underlined text in any font and replace it
with italics:

1. In the "Find what" box, press Ctrl+U. Leave the box empty. You'll see
Format: Underline.

2. In the "Replace with" box (also empty), press Ctrl+I, then press Ctrl+U
*twice.* You'll see Format: Font: Italic, no underline.

3. Replace All.

This is not a perfect replace because most likely punctuation following
words is not underlined (it should not be), but some punctuation (commas and
periods at a minimum) should be italicized.
