Search Form Results

I'm becoming a 'regular' on this board...

On my site at www.streetsmartinvesting.net I am wanting to put a search form
on the homepage; however, when I follow the instructions to set it up (and
after I publish), the result is that when you use the form and hit the Search
button, it automatically reloads the homepage but without the graphics
appearing - just placeholders. I am only wanting (at this point) to search
the site for relevany words - not a database (I still need to learn that). I
have Recalculated the Hyperlinks and I think that I'm crossing my eyes in the
right way for it to magically solve itself.

The URL that shows in this address bar when the search is perfomed is
http://www.streetsmartinvesting.net/_derived/nortbots.htm

Any ideas on what is happening?

Make the search from it own page, and link to it.

Thanks for the feedback. I followed your advice to no avail - same problem.
I have read that I may need to install a 'Personal Web Server' so that i am
not creating this on my hard drive. This confuses me. Is this going to
screw me up any more? What is it????

The only way to control the look of the search form, is to either apply a theme or CSS (control the
fonts). The search form will always post back to the page the search form is on. Bottom-line you are
limited in what you can do with it.

Thanks, but I guess I have confused the problem. The issue is not so much
how my search form 'looks' but rather the fact that it doesn't return any
'Results' for the search words put into it when the 'Submit' button is
clicked. Instead, it just reloads my homepage minus the graphics (almost
like a hyperlink).

How do I get it to actually return the results of the search?

Ok. How did you create this new search page and get it on the server?

Are you using a custom page for 404 errors?
_derived/nortbots.htm is a long error message, the gist of which is
that you have to http publish your web to a server running the FP
extensions.

nortbots.htm only appears in four cases:

1) You are testing on a disc-based website, including a FrontPage
disc-based web that is being browsed through a web-server.
2) You are testing on a website that does not have server extensions
installed or running
3) The site (or form page) was FTPed from a disc-based web, or
published using a FTP address for the destination, or published to a
file system destination including a network share or UNC address (like
\\machinename\path\webname). Publish must be to a URL of the form
http://example.com
4) There is a bug associated with FrontPage98 which causes this
problem.
