search function problem: too many Find Public Folders dialogs open

When I try to use the find function in Outlook 2003, I get a dialog window
that opens and says I have too many Find Public Folder dialogs open and that
I must close them before proceeding. It asks if i want to close them, but if
I click either yes or no, I get another box that says, "outlook cannot
perform your search. Outlook cannot display this view. A folder by this name
already exists." This happens whether I'm using find or advanced find, and is
a consistent problem over many, many tries. Any advice would be much
appreciated! Thanks.

have a look on this site with a small freeware Add-In for Outlook (Public
FixSearchFolders) to solve this problem:

"Microsoft Outlook-2003 / Microsoft Outlook-2007 error message: "To much
searchfolders"

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't know about adding something in...is it
just me or does it seem odd that I would have to add something just to get
the program to function the way it should properly function and the way it
has worked on my system for over a year already??

Hi tablet user,

on the website we write:

Outlook normaly delete temporary "search folder entries" by itself, but
sometimes the "search folders" were not deleted. Our tool will help you to
delete the wrong temporary entries.

We also write:

The program can be started directly after the download. There is no "setup"
necessary. After you opened the program,you must select an Outlook store
like "Personal Folder" and on the right site, you will see entries liek
"searchfolder1; searchfolder2 etc.". Delete all entreis with a number. Do
not delete any entries without a number

Which is the part that you do not understand?

and the way it has worked on my system for over a year already??

Last March my girlfriend came to me in the kitchen on a Tuesday and she
said: "The car is broken in the morning. It works the last 6 years without
any problems." I said to her "Go to the car and tell him it is Monday". ;-)

Things happends and the break down from one day to the other. I can not
tell you why you get the problem, I can only tell you how to solve it.
