Search GAL for new resource name

Not using project server nor centralized resource pool. Is there a way to
query a new resource name (during new or change resource event) against
Outlook Global Address List to ensure common resource names across all
project plans? If resource found in GAL, would like the GAL entry returned
into the resource name field. Is this possible?
