Hi friends

Is there any utilily/add-on/software that allows to search within PST-Files
(Archived mail) without opening them in Outlook. I have dozens of this
archive folders (some of them in "old" and "new" format) for each issue I had
in my mailbox and for many years back.

If this utility doesn't exist, it is really a challenge for developers,
because I think the solution with opening all archive folders is not really
state of the art.

or does anybody know a workaround?

Any comments/ideas highly appreciated!

What searches have you already tried? Lookout? Google Desktop? MSN search?

Hi Milly

Thanks! I have tried all of them in the past, none of them is able to
index/search the pst-files, if they are "closed". Lookout, probably also some
of the other mentionned will work, if I open the pst.-file in Outlook, but I
cannot imagine how to work with Outlook, when I have 30 or more archive files
open...(I tried alos smeo other DT-search engines, nuts!

Any other ideas?

Are these actually archived archives in the meaning of; we only keep them in
case we need to look something up? If so consider the following add-in;
http://www.howto-outlook.com/redirect.asp?id=mapilab_archiver

This allows you to store your archive in a webformat like html or chm which
is already fully indexed on its own including attachments.

If you decide to order use "4PM76A8" to get a discount.

I use Copernic Desktop search and I am able to search, on Archive pst's that
are not opened in OL
The index was built whilst these pst's were open in OL, however since these
Archives are old, and no longer updated, once the index process was
completed I closed them.
A search still shows data from these closed Archives.
I have used MSN Search but I was having a problem with Office2003, The MSN
development team are aware of the problem/conflict
