Hi guys,
Whenever I try to search through the pwa instance on my project server
installation I receive this error:

The site http://10.25.6.2:8008/PWA/ could not be found in the Web
application SPWebApplication Name=SharePoint - 8000 Parent=SPWebService

how i fix it?

I think you will need to enable the search via WSS and include the PWA URL
here.

have you added the Project Server URL to the search? when does the search
run? has it run again after you have started it?

Dharmesh,

I am having the same issue. Windows SharePoint Services Search is
enabled on the Central Administratin Website, but searching within Sites made
in PS does not yield anything.

Can you please explain how to "add" the Project Server URL to the search,
or post a link to an article explaining how to do that?

See below:

All,

I found the answer (to my issue at least), not sure if it will help anyone.
For search to work in WSS 3 SP2 (not sure about other SP's) there needs to be
a site at the root level.

In my case:

My project WSS sites are created on http://devapp06:83/PWA/(project name
here) Search failed since it cannot see a site at http://devapp06:83. I
tested this by entering this URL in IE and it returns an error page.

I created a new top level site for http://devapp06:83, which means I was
able to browse to this URL successfully, so search and indexing ran fine.

I am a bit upset by this. When I looked at the installation documentation
for the section on “Create Project Web Access Siteâ€, I noticed it says you
can enter a “project web access pathâ€. Since I chose “PWAâ€, I ended up with
http://devapp06:83/PWA/. I did not see anything along the lines of:

"If you decide to do this, the path will be
http://servername:portnumber/(what you enter in the project web access path
field) and WSS search will not work unless you manually create a top level
site at the http://servername:portnumber level."

As the good people at Microsoft built the PS 2007 installer and wrote the
installation doc, I am a bit disappointed that no one walked over to the WSS
group and asked them if search in WSS would work with an install of PS 2007
if someone actually typed in a project web access path.

• Log into the PS 2007 server - in my case, WRTAPPV02, I am not sure what
your server name is given your URL.
• Open SharePoint Central Administration
• Go to Application Management
• Click Create Site Collection
• In the "Web Application" section, use the drop down to select the port
your PS 2007 WSS sites are in. For me, this is wrtappv02:83, you will need to
determine what port you are using.
• Fill in the rest of the information; be sure the URL information IS LEFT
BLANK! This will create the site at the "top level" – for me it made the site
at wrtappv02:83.

Once you create the site, you can test it by navigating to the web
application. In my case, I went to http://wrtappv02:83 and I saw my new site,
which meant WSS search could navigate here as well, and then "tunnel down" to
my PWA site which was on http://wrtappv02:83/PWA

WRT IT Dept - thanks for your quick response.
Under Web Site Address it defaults to http://sgofmsproj2/sites/ which is my
server name. But i'm confused by the /sites/ section. My only other choice
in that area is /ssp admin/. Does that mean I already have a top level
called sites?

When I link to http://sgofmsproj2 it sends me to default.aspx which is the
PWA site. I can search on that site, but it only shows me results from
/sites/ sites.

Karen,

Waht is the server name and port number? My server name is wrtappv02, my
port number is 83. The "sgofmsproj2" seems like an alias, you need to know
the server name and port number.

My server name is sgofmsproj2 and the port is 80, which is the default port
so it doesn't have to be part of the url.

I do have a top level which I can use the search, but it only finds results
from the /sites/ sites and not the /pwa/ sites.
