Search page not working

Joe S.

The search page on my website is not working. When I go to the search page,
enter word(s) in the search box and click on Search, it returns this error:

Error from search: can't open the word hash file
D:\inetpub\wwwroot\007086\5rs8lkca\_vti_txt\default.wti\All.dct

I upgraded from FP98 to FP2003 -- may have caused a problem with that.

Can anyone suggest a fix? Or, do I need to delete the search page and make
a new one -- and how do I do that?

Thanks.

I just tried making a new search page using the search page template in
FP2003. Still get the same error.

I deleted the search page from the web, used the Search Page Template to
make a new search page, published, still not working. Yes, the FP
extensions are installed on the server.

The location (D:\inetpub\wwwroot) indicates you are using localhost (a FP SE based local web)
What OS are you running?
Did you uninstall PWS and install the FP SE under IIS if under Win 2000 or Win XP Pro?

I am running Win XP Home edition.

I am not running on a local web; my host has FP extensions installed.

What are PWS, FP SE, and IIS?

Win XP Home is limited to Disc based webs and can not run local server based webs on your PC
Uninstall PWS (Personal Web Server that came w/ FP 98 if you upgraded)
Upgrade to Win XP Pro to use IIS (Internet Information Services) and FP SE (FrontPage Server Extensions) if you want to run a local
server

Or open your local webs as disc based webs (C:\path\webfolder)

PS
If the problem is with your online hosted web, have your host create an index catalog
