search page results appearance

Search page results do not carry my chosen theme. Instead a white background
appears in the main page and left border.
How can i maintain the sites theme in ideally the main page and left border
or as worst case scenario just left border.

If you go to the search page and search on a term - say "buttons"; on the
resulting page you'll see the white background that Dave is talking about.
