Search shuts down Word 2000

Whenever I select File|Open|Tools|Find and criteria
is 'contents' includes words xxxxxx, after the search is
complete, Word 2000 shuts down. I was able to duplicate
the problems on several different workstations and all
were updated with the latest SP and all security fixes on
officeupdate.com. Ran detect and repair to no avail.
Please help, could this be a flaw in the app??
