Search using an asterix (*) not the same between '04 and '08

In Entourage 2004 I would do calendar searches for double asterix (**)
as that's how we mark pending meetings.

In Entourage 2008, the astreix is apparently treated as a wildcard and
I'm getting every calendar appointment.

Is there any way that I can search for the raw text "**"??? I
understand I can just put ** in the search for Subject, but that
doesn't get me the full list view that 2004 would.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The search in Entourage 2008 is now Spotlight-based. That explains the
difference between the two.
You need to perform a raw query: Once you have entered ** in the search
box, you can see an orange bar between the toolbar and the message area.
At the end of the bar, click on the + sign to expand the search
criteria.
In the pull-down menu, you can select "Raw Query".

Thanks for the quick reply. However, that doesn't work either.

I ended up having to tell Entourage what text field to specifically
look for (subject) as well as specifically tell Entourage not to honor
the astrix as a wildcard, but rather a character.

Raw Query kMDItemTitle = "\*\**"

This will find any item that begins with two astrix and has any
additional text after it, for example, "** Pain is fun".
