Hi all, we use FP2003 and love it. We created a search page using
new page,
template,
search page.

It was easy and we followed all instructions. We then uploaded it to our
server (bCentral) but every time you start a search, you get the following

“The webpage cannot be foundâ€
In addition, this is the text in the address bar

http://www.eyespyli.com/_derived/nortbots.htm

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Fran

When you created the page how did you put it on your server? You need to
publish the web using HTTP (File, Publish Site)

The search feature requires http publishing (not FTP) to a server with the
FrontPage Server Extensions installed in order to function.

My tests indicate your host server does *not* have extensions installed.

Thanks Tom, All of my other FP items work ie forms. I know that when I do not
have FP extensions installed none of my forms work.

I am not to sure what you and David mean about publishing http and not FTP.
We just click "publish Site" and let FP do it thing.

Thanks again.

Thanks David, I am not to sure what you ment about publishing HTTP vs FTP We
use FP 2003 and just select publish site and it does its thing.

Thanks

The line
<form action="_derived/nortbots.htm" method="POST"
onsubmit="location.href='_derived/nortbots.htm';return false;">

Indicates that the search page was FTPed to the server, or the server
extensions are broken.

References to nortbots.htm only appear in five cases:

1) You are testing on a disc-based website, including a FrontPage
disc-based web that is being browsed through a web-server.

2) You are testing on a website that does not have server extensions
installed or running

3) The site (or form page) was FTPed from a disc-based web, or
published using a FTP address for the destination, or published to a
file system destination including a network share or UNC address (like
\\machinename\path\webname). Publish must be to a URL of the form
http://example.com, or the site was published to a disc based location
(example C:/sitename/)

4) There is a bug associated with FrontPage98 which causes this
problem.

5) The site was correctly published, but the extensions were not
installed correctly or were mis-configured. Re-installing the
extensions may correct the problem

It is possible that bCentral does not support the FrontPage search
component.

FYI - your no-right-click script does not assist in debugging problems
such as this, is too easy to get round in IE, and completely fails in
FireFox anyway.

Try opening the bCentral site in FrontPage, and running
Tools->Recalculate Hyperlinks.
This should restore the search correctly.

File->Open Site and type in http://www.eyespyli.com
Or use Remote Site view in the local copy and click the link: "Open
remote site in FrontPage".
