Searching contacts doesn't display all relevant items

I recently upgraded to Of2007 from Office2003. Now, typing search words into
the Search Computer Folders box above the list of contacts often does not
display several and often any contacts that contain the search string. OF2003
used to show ALL contacts in the selected folder that contained the search
character string ANYWHERE in the contact record. My new Office2007 does not
show a lot of the matching entries, even when the string appears in the Name
field. I can't find any setting that restricts the search activity.

How do I get the OF2007 search to behave like it did in OF2003?

Use Advanced Find, not Instant Search.

Instant search for contacts is buggy. Choose the option to search all
contacts - that works here every time, even when the contact is in the
folder I searched first.

I still have problems with Instant Search for fields that cannot be added to
the dialog, like Notes. Don't you?

No. I can find them now that I figured out it doesn't work in individual
folders, only all contact items. I initially thought it was view related as
I could find them in the new biz card view but not in table views, but now I
suspect changing views jumped it up to All contacts. More testing and
writing it up are on my list of things to do this cold and snowy week-end.

Diane/Russ, Changing options to do Search All helped a lot. After messing
with the search options, it appears that I am now getting most (maybe all)
entries to appear with All Contact Search. In fact All Contact Search is
doing better than Advanced Find. When I search for "john", ACS now returns 23
items, while AF only returns 19. AF misses 2 out of 3 dupped entries and 2
other entries (one with "John & Patty" in the First Name field, and the other
w/ John as a word in the the Category fields)..

I think all the search options are a little buggy.

Defaulting to search all contacts helps a lot tho and is a lot more
convenient than using adv find.

That depends. For users who may not want to search and return results for
multiple Contact Folders, Advanced Find is a better alternative.

If the sources are multiple psts, you can click on the arrow on the all
contact item (in the nav pane) and remove some sources from the search. It
won't help with multiple contacts folders though.
