Searching for URL monitoring application

For the past five years, we have been using SiteScope to monitor the URLs
inside our intranet for web site availability. The monitor console is easy
to use, simple monitors are easy to create, and tool is easy to administer.
The original company, Freshwater was a great company, but I have a
completely different opinion of Mercury. Due to our continuing disgust with
Mercury's sales personnel, it's time we find a new URL monitoring solution.
Besides, Mercury has done virtually nothing to enhance the URL monitoring
capabilities of SiteScope.

We are monitoring about 500 URLs, the majority of them are simple monitors,
but about 20% are transaction or sequence monitors. In some cases, we need
to deal with SiteMinder or Java. In all cases, we do content matching to
ensure the proper page is being tested.

I looked at NetIQ's Response Time Module, but after using SiteScope, they
product is seriously lacking in functionality (ease of maintenance,
administration, etc). I've briefly looked at IPSentry and NetVigil, but have
not had the time to do much else.

What are some of the better agentless URL monitoring solutions that are
suitable for an enterprise solution that runs on a Windows platform? I am
especially interested in hearing from former users of SiteScope to find what
solution you are currently using or products you have tried.

Thanks,
