When I try to search
microsoft.public.word
I get a search on all of the topics, not just the Word subtopics.

I believe I used to be able to search all Word topics (and only Word topics)
at once.

This is very annoying, as I get so many items returned, most of them having
nothing to do with Word, that the search is useless. I have to go in and
individually search each Word subtopic that looks like it might contain what
I'm looking for. It has been happening for awhile, and I hoped it would be
fixed by now.

I find this forum very useful, but it would be even more so if this problem
were fixed.

Use http://groups.google.com/advanced_search instead. In the field that asks
for the group name, enter microsoft.public.word.* to search all the Word
newgroups, or enter the specific group to search in (for instance, this one
is microsoft.public.word.application.errors).

Thanks, but when I tried to use it (at work), it was blocked. It is
considered "personal pages, chat, or usenet news".

I often have this problem on helpful links that are posted here.
Fortunately, not on some of the most useful.
