Searching through documents

John

Working in PWA, I have encountered an interesting problem.
I have uploaded 2 sample documents to 2 project subwebs. If I want to do a
search, I click on the Documents tab, then type in the word I want to search
for. Instead of getting a result set of documents back, I get a page with
this:

[Names]
[Query]
CiCodePage=windows-1252
CiLocale=En-US
CiCatalog=OWS_Search_Proxy
CiColumns=filename,size,rank,characterization,vpath,DocTitle,write
CiFlags=DEEP
CiRestriction= $contents "%SearchString%" AND NOT #vpath \iisadmin* AND NOT
#vpath \iishelp* AND NOT #vpath \iissamples* AND NOT #vpath *\_vti_*
CiMaxRecordsInResultSet=300
CiMaxRecordsPerPage=20
CiScope=/OWS_VRoot_1/%DocLibDir%
CiTemplate=/_layouts/%Template%.htx
CiSort=rank[d]
CiForceUseCi=true
CiDialect=1
I know this is the search query, but obviously this is not what I want to
see on my screen.The indexing is turned on on both of my servers (Project
and Database servers).Please help.ThanksJohn

I also noticed this:

When I upload a document (either by linking it to a task, or by going
straight into Sharepoint), I get an error that says:

An unknown error occured in updating the Microsoft Project Server
database because Sharepoint objects cannot be saved. Log on to Microsoft
PWA again and link the document to tasks in the Tasks page.

I have done this and get the same error message.

Any ideas???

Make sure that the indexing service is started.

I have the same problem. The indexing service was not
started but is now. Do the documents need to be reloaded
to fix the existing problem. The symptom John describes
persists.

Thanks,
Scott

It may take a while for the system to build the catalog. Rebooting might
force the issue.

Have you mounted the event viewer and looked at the application log? It
would help if you could dig up some clues.

Got it working...thanks for your ideas...turns out it was something in the
indexing service. Apparently, some file associations needed to be made.
The IDQ and HTX, etc. Once, I get with our SysAdmin this morning, I'll know
a little more.

Thanks
John
