I know this isn't really an answer, but at least half of thosefields
(telephone number, mobile number, company name, address, and post
code) don't have to beuser-defined, as there are pre-existing (and
searchable)fieldsfor that information.
Had the same question and found a great answer (at least for my
needs). It's pasted below from last July:
in your regular view, use Field Chooser and drag&drop those custom
fields in
your view. By clicking on one them your view will sort by that
columns, and
when you do a quick search (just highlight an item and start typing)
the
sorted column is the one who will be searched in.
If you need to do a search that includes parameters from several
fields, you
are back to advanced search. If you repeat the same type of searches
often,
make search folders to save your search selections and just click on
them to
get an updated result.
