sections spontaneously disppear

I've noticed that occasionally when I open a new section it will just
disappear (either while I'm naming it or soon thereafter). I finally figured
out that OneNote is automatically moving the section to the "misplaced
sections" part of the program. I think this has something to do with shared
notebooks, but I didn't set up my notebooks to be shared (and even if I did,
obviously OneNote shouldn't be doing this). Has anyone else noticed this
problem? Is this just a bug that needs fixing? Anyone have a solution?

Can you confirm the steps you are taking in the New Notebook Wizard to
replicate this? Where are you placing the Notebooks when you create them?

Well, I give the notebook a name, then it asks me "Who will use this
notebook?" and I choose "I will use it on this computer", then the gives me a
default path
C:\Documents and Settings\averatec1\My Documents\OneNote Notebooks, which I
accept, and then it creates the notebook.

I had the same thing happen. It was caused by:

1) Creating a shared notebook on computer A;
2) Opening the notebook from computer B;
3) Getting the two in sync;
4) while disconnected from A, renamed a folder in the shared notebook;
5) resync'd when connected again, but it didn't quite handle the
change properly.

I managed to apply a little of Finnegan's Finagling Factor (meaning I
did something but I don't know what) and things got coordinated again.
