Sections - Word inserts a blank page

Joan

Every time in insert a next page section, word inserts a
blank page. There is no blank page in either normal view
or page layout view. But if the document is print
previewed or printed the blank pages appear.

Any help would be appreciated.

If your section break is a Section Break (Odd Page) or Section Break
(Even Page), XL will insert a blank sheet if necessary in order to
start the following section on an odd/even page.

If that's the case, put your cursor in the section following the
break, choose Format/Document and choose "Next Page" from the
Section Start dropdown on the layout page.

thanks for the info. However, I have always used "next page" section
breaks, not odd and even breaks. I tried your suggestion, but it is
already next page. Very annoying as I have to put this document into
a PDF for distribution and require the section breaks because the
headers and footers change. Hmmm.......I do have odd and even
headers and footers in the document but that shouldn't affect the
section breaks, should it?

Any thoughts are certainly appreciated.

No, the odd-even header/footer setting shouldn't insert extra pages.
Did you check the section break *after* the text - that's where the
section's settings are stored. Or you could choose
Format/Document/layout and look at the Section Start dropdown.

If your document has gotten corrupted, you can cure a multitude of
ills by showing hidden characters, then copying all but the last
paragraph mark in the document to a new document.
