secure slides in powerpoint 2003

In Excel I can lock select cells; is PPT is it posible to lock select slides
so peers can edit only "unlocked" content?

The "image" solution won't help -- my business users don't always have the
ability to create images of slides, and the deck owners need to to modify the
locked slides.

As for the add-in, that may work, as loing as it's proven to be effective,
availabe from a trusted source and can be easily be incorporated into a
system build. I'll check out your add-ins link.

A possible workaround if you have version 2007, then applying a feature that
is unavailable in version 2003 to an object (text box, table, etc) will
render that object uneditable in 2003 when saved with compatibility. This
won't lock the entire slide, but would prevent editing teh contents of that
object in version 2003. The textbox/table/etc. will appear as if it was an
image in 2003, but will be editable in 2007.

What do you mean by "my business users don't always have the ability to
create images of slides"? Saving the deck as JPG will create slide images.
This might just be a training issue. As for the need to modify, this can
certainly get trickier, but the deck owners can keep the original for
modification and send around the version with the images.

The compnay I work for has over 2,000 salespeople. A regional sales manager
can create a slide deck and ask that his staff NOT change slides 1, 5, and 8
(for example). Creating JPGs of the slideshow and asking a non-technical
salesperson to insert slides, then delete certain other slides would not be
an acceptable use of their time. They need to KISS (Keep it Simple,
Salesforce!). Training is reserved for product rollouts and essentil software
releases. But, that's my constraint.

That makes sense. I'm concerned that the add-in option will be problematic
to administer. You will need to install it on every computer where it is
used, not just put it in the presentation. If you can get it to work, it
will be simpler for the users, but it will be harder to implement.
