Hello again,
As mentioned in a previous post, I have an Access 2000 database front end
that is used on both sides of a T1 WAN.
My question is, I want to secure the database with a MDW file but want to
know what is the berst way to do it considering part of my network is over a
WAN. Should I create ONE security file and have everyone point to that file
(even if they are across the WAN), create ONE security file and have it
periodically copied to the other side of the WAN (and thus used locally on
each side of the WAN), or create and maintain TWO separate security files,
one for either side of the WAN?
What are the performance issues with the security file? Do I need to be
concerned about speed issues if all of the users open it from the same
network location, even across the relatively slow WAN? Has anyone had any
experiance with this type of situation? We have a full T-1 link between
sites, about 80 users total have the front end on their computers and thus
would need to access the security file. THanks!
