Security in distributing files to others

I'like to know if I can 'lock' my files,so as to be read-only and nobody could ever edit them when they are opened as read-only.Furtermore, I want to restrict their saving in a different filename when they are opened as read-only,cause that way theis editing is duable. In simple words, I want when I distribute my files, just to be in position to open them and that's all.(no printing, copy&paste, save in another filename etc.)I'm mostly interested in Microsoft Word XP

Can't really be done at all, and certainly not through Word. Best approach
is probably to create a PDF, but even that is easily defeatable.

Exactly. If the eye can see it, then any copy protection of the sort he
seeks is easily surmountable.

And if there's any value in, it doesn't cost much to re-type the damned
thing.
