Security Permissions

In MS Project 2003 is it possible for Project Managers to read only projects that they are not involved with at all: they do not manage, are not a team member, are not managed by resources that they manage, and are not assigned to resources that they manage

Occasionally it would be helpful for our Project Managers to see how some of their colleagues address scheduling features but the category security permissions seem to prevent this

Any advice will be appreciated

The Project Managers group contains the My Organization category. By
default, the My Organization category gives every project manager read/write
access to everyone else's projects. Assuming that you have not changed any
other of the security permissions relating to either the My Organization
category or the Project Managers group,

The Project Managers group contains the My Organization category. By
default, the My Organization category in the Project Managers group gives
every project manager read/write access to everyone else's projects in the
portfolio. Assuming that you have not changed any other of the security
permissions relating to either the My Organization category or the Project
Managers group, you can set up the security environment you desire by
completing the following steps:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click the Manage Users and Groups link
3. Click the Groups link in the sidepane on the left
4. Select the Project Managers group in the data grid and click the Modify
Group button
5. Make sure the My Organization category is selected in the list of
Categories
6. Deselect the Save Project option in the Permissions section below the
Categories list
7. Click the Save Changes button

Doing so will give each project manager read-only access to everyone else's
projects while maintaining Read/Write access to his/her own projects. Hope
this helps.
