Security phase

I am beginning to read books and create security for my
database. I was wondering if in the meantime splitting the
database and creating unique frontends for users would
present any problems. It will take them a week or two to
figure out go to computer A if you need this and computer
B for this.... Also if your employer is willing to
purchase SQL even after you said it was not neccessary
based on size how much could I benefit and would it give
me much more power designing? Stability?
