Security Template Not Applying

Lisa

I have set the security templates for our various groups and they were
working, however they have stopped working. For instance Team Members have
only timesheet task views, etc. BUT they can see everything, even Admin
settings???? Does anyone know what would cause this?

This is a design "feature" that I hope Microsoft corrects - when you
use security templates (always a good practice), you configure the
template, and "Set permissions with templates" in Groups and
Categories. However, the security template pick list always defaults
to "Administrator"!

Could it be that you accidently hit "Set permissions with templates" in
the Team Member group or Category setting with the pick list at the
default?

Just a thought.

Mark,

That was it! I have been cross training my backup and they accidentally
applied the Administrator template to every group, but of course they could
not remember doing it...

Thanks for the quick response. I hope in the next version Microsoft fixes
that problem of just showing the default in the drop-down.

Many thanks!

One other note:

My backup made some changes to the security template. If changes are made
to the security template...you must go re-apply to the groups that use them,
for some reason the chnages do not migrate on their own.

You are very welcome. And thank you for posting feedback. It's always
great to hear that my mental troubleshooting was correct!

Mark:

Pick lists throughout the application are largely presented alpha-sorted,
except where it's possible to set a default or sort order based on record
order in custom fields. How would you propose that this pick-list behave?
