Hello,
I am also having this same issue.
If I just allow windows update to install the update it just provides a very
plain message that the update failed. It would be nice if MS would expand on
the error.
I then downloaded the Full Install of this update.
When I run the Full install update, I now am told that a *.tmp file does
note exist, and I am given an error code of 1010.
If I watch the folder that update is expanding all of its files into, the
tmp file that I am told does not exist, does exist. The file in question is
not a zero byte file, and the full name changes with each try at installing
the update.
After I am told about this file issue, and while still looking in the folder
I see the file change to a zero byte file size.
I am running XP Pro, not on a Domain, and I have run the update as the ADMIN.
I have disabled Anti-virus - NOD32, and MS Defender, even though this was
not an issue on the pc's at work the are running the same, just that the work
pc's are on a domain.
This pc had XP pro clean install not that long ago, and has not been used
that much.
I am running out of ideas, if have or anyone has an idea that would be great.
Thanks for reading, and your time,
Stephen
