security updates

I have received what looks like an e-mail from Microsoft with an attachment
named "installer3.exe". It appeared in my "junk mail".

The e-mail tells me to keep my security up-to-date, install this "March 2005
Cumulative Patch". It is to fix all known security ..... It goes on to list
the applicable o/s (didn't list win 93!)

Is this for real? Does Microsoft send out these updates? I thought I had to
manually check for up-dates. I have done that and everything is up-to-date.

I'm extremely suspicious of stuff like this. Have not opened it. Virus
protection is up-to-date.

DELETE. Microsoft does not send out any thing with attachments.

Microsoft never sends out executables of any sort by e-mail. The
e-mail is most likely a virus and should be deleted.
