Security Warning opening attachments - how to turn it off?

J

Jim P

I have had to re-install Office XP onto my pc. Now when I double-click on an
attachment in Outlook, I get a security warning:
Subject/header states: Do you want to open this files?

It then lists the file name, type, publisher (which is usually unknown), the
program which it's going to use and the Temp directory.

There was a choice, a long time ago, to pick if it was the default choice or
not. Now I'm stuck with having to answer this question every time.

Any thoughts on how to get control of Outlook? I used to be able to
double-click on the attachment and have it open. Now the blasted security
warning. HELP!!!

Thanks....Jim

Hi Jim, unfortunately I do not have the answer for you, but I'd like to
comment in saying I too am having this exact same problem.

Dialogue Box:
"Open File - Security Warning"
Do you want to open this file?

Name: *.jpg
Publisher: Unknown Publisher
Type: Program to which will open the file...
From: C:\temp\Temporary Internet Files\OLK73

PROMPTS: OPEN or CANCEL.
We're not offered the check box to "Always remember my answer"!!!

This starting occuring for me RIGHT AFTER an XP Upgrade.
Outlook version is 2000 SP3.

Thanks in advance
