Security Warning, Word 2002

XP Home: Word 2002:

Security Warning
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Smart Tag\FDATE.DLL
contains macros by
Microsoft Corporation

I changed ( in the Word) Tools Options Security level to Medium (or Low)
then OK, window close. Open the macro Security window again and it is
magically back to High! Why please?

Next, which may be better overall solution is to somehow disable Word to
look in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Smart
Tag\FDATE.DLL at start up. This will be best solution leaving security level
to High, but how to do that please?

Will renaming C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Smart
Tag\FDATE.DLL to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Smart
Tag\OLDFDATE.DLL help?

Thanks, Dusko

Hello Dusko,

You can turn off Smart Tags for the (Dates English) Option by clicking
Tools | Autocorrect Options, Click the Smart Tags Tab and uncheck the
(Dates English) Option. Another possibility would be to reboot the system
and repair Office. You can do this from the Help Menu from Word. Just click
Detect and Repair from the Help Menu and click Start, You will need your
Office XP CD.

Thanks
Hope this helps
