What do you mean by "share"? This an important question, unrelated to
encryption.
If you mean you want to share the project files with others users of
Microsoft Project ... give them a *copy* of the file. You retain the
master and protect it. Don't just let any old person ever change that
file without agreement/authority/authorisation.
Or you could (and I think this a better approach) *publish* information
about project. Don't give access to or release copies of MPP files, but
send out "information" about the project; reports, Gantt Chart
snapshots, commentary in text, summary views, etc. Don't send *data*
about the project--send *knowledge* and *information*. Don't make folks
figure things out for themselves. Give them your message. If you count
on them figuring out what it is you want to tell them, you run the risk
they won't figure it out.
I feel very strongly that simply sending out MPP files to people not
directly involved with working the MPP file itself is not wise. It's
even dangerous to send out MPP files to people who have but don't know
how to use Microsoft Project.
If you must give access to project file, maybe put it on LAN server with
read-only access. I don't know for sure that Project will open a file
that is read-only. try it. I don't recall trying this ever (but then I
would be "publishing" about projects, not giving access to MPP files).
