See Projects in Project Views

Hello All!

I am having trouble with the See Projects in Project Views permission.
At least, I think I am. The problem is that PMs cannot click through
to the View A Project page using the hyperlink in the Project Center
for the visible projects.

For background, we typically grant read-only permission to a project by
making a PM a team member of that project. This works well except for
the fact that PM team members cannot click through to the View A
Project page using the hyperlinked project name in Project Center.
They can open the project in Project Pro 2003 in read only mode. The
See Projects in Project Views permission is set to Allow for the Owned
Projects and TMs category within the Project Manager group. Project
Managers are able to click through to view their own projects. But PMs
cannot view projects to which they have read only permissions by
clicking through to the View A Project page.

While PMs can open these read only projects using the thick client
Project Pro 2003, some of them find it annoying ... very annoying. Any
thoughts?

Thank you in advance!

When a PM clicks on a hyperlink for a project in the Project Center page,
what does he/she see, if anything?

Hi Dale,

The PM sees the following message:

This view or saved link has either been deleted or you no longer have
permissions to view it.

Choose another view or contact your Project Server administrator to get
permissions.

Thank you for your time!

If the project managers are members of any security Groups other than the
Project Managers group, try removing them from the other Groups. Without
knowing exactly how you have changed the default permissions in any of the
security Groups, I'm not sure how much more I can speculate on the cause of
the problem. Hope this helps.

Hello Dale!

Thanks for the tip. The PMs do belong to the Team Members group.
Maybe that's causing some difficulty.

Thanks for your time!
