See tasks in the workspace

Sarah

When I look in a project workspace, I don't see any information as related to
my actual project - tasks, especially, but also, there's no link to open the
project itself. Am I missing something?

Yes, you are missing something huge. The Project Workspace is where all
interested parties can collaborate about Risks, Issues, Documents, and
Deliverables related to the project. It is NOT where team members go to
submit task updates. They do this on the My Tasks page in PWA. It is NOT
where people can go to see the project. They do this on the Project Center
page in PWA. The Tasks feature you see in the Project Workspace is not
project tasks; these are tasks related to the project but not in the actual
project plan, such as action items that arise from a team meeting related to
the project. Hope this helps.

And I was wondering why the project plan wasn't getting updated with the
"Tasks" input from the workspace.

So Dale, does that mean that if we wanted to include these Workspace "Tasks"
in the project schedule, the PM will have to do this double and add it also
in the schedule and publish?

Yes, you are correct in your assumption. My opinion would be that this is
way too much work for the PMs and probably self-defeating. Each team
member's assigned tasks from the Microsoft Project plan appear in the My
Tasks page, so why ask your PMs to repeat them somewhere else manually?
Instead, I would recommend you use the Tasks feature in the Project
Workspace for project-related tasks, such as Action Items from a team
meeting, for example. I think you will get a lot more mileage out of this
feature that way. Hope this helps.
