Seeing a task in Baseline fields that is currently deleted

I see an inherent issue in the Microsoft Project 2003.

Let us say that a set of tasks have been added in an MPP and baselined using
save baseline command.

And later in the current plan i delete few tasks. But then in my Baseline
record i should be able to see these tasks so that i know that these tasks
existed at the time of baseline.

Right now in Project 2003 if a new task is added in the current plan then in
the baseline it shows NA which is OK.

But if a task existed during baseline and if i delete that task in the
current plan then this task is gone for ever and not found in the baseline.

Please help me out. This is one of our project requirement.

Your project requirement is flawed. You should definitely NOT delete tasks
that were part of the original Baseline. Instead, reduce the Remaining Work
to 0h on cancelled tasks, and then add a Note indicating that the tasks were
not needed. Hope this helps.
