Hi, my eyes are good but I am struggling with my new Mac / Office Excel to see the cursor. It is a light colour thin box that is hard to see on a page of numbers.
Is there any way in which its colour and boldness can be improved !

thanks

I'm having the same problem and my eyes are good too. Is there a way to change the apearence in excel? just to make the cursor a bit more thick

That isn't an Excel option, it's determined by the OS in System Preferences>
Appearance> Highlight Color. You can select virtually any color you wish but
just keep in mind that it's a universal setting, so selected text in other
programs [i.e., Word] will be highlighted with that color as well.

I don't know of any way to modify the weight of the selection border.

On any Mac Go to appearance (control panel) in system preferences.

Look down to bottom of screen and look for *Font Smoothing* can be set
from light, standard, medium, or strong, or automatic for your main
display. works on Desktop or laptop, CRT monitors or LCD/LED Monitors.

Try setting to medium or strong and see if looks better.

also set minimum font so That font smoothing at 6pt or less.

Also how you have brightness and contrast set on you monitor or even
sharpness can affect thickness of the Blinking cursor.

Also if you double click in the cell you are working on you will
actually see your numbers, text or Formulas type in the cell magnified.

Hi,

And a few related comments:

1. You can see the cell address in the Name Box at the top left of the
Formula Bar.
2. The activecell's row number and column letter are highlighted along the
borders of the spreadsheet.

That said, this is a problem on both the PC and Mac. And the PC solutions
may be less flexible.

Hi Phillip;

Although both posters used the word "cursor" they're actually referring to
the *cell selector* that surrounds the selected cell, not the flashing
insertion point. I'm afraid font smoothing nor any of the settings other
than Appearance Color will do much to affect it.
